2010 marks the big 4-0 for me. Can't say that I'm entirely excited about it, particularly when I receive messages from the media announcing that I am now "middle aged." And although I am prone to a senior or moment or two (last night I couldn't recall what event caused the scar in my forehead), I don't FEEL middle-aged. Perhaps that's why I become increasingly grateful for the little things, like being carded by the Trader Joe's cashier. It's my intent to age gracefully and to do that, I suppose I must accept that my mind is no longer the steel trap it was, or that my conversational bon-mots might center around the status of my colon too often. Nevertheless, it takes courage to live this long and to live this well. If I've made it this far, can the next decade be anything less than spectacular?
